Best Free Mockup Presentation Tool

In search of the best free mockup presentation tool or online feedback tool, we tried out several websites. Here are the results we found:

  • Concept.ly: Perfect. Looks great. Does everything you need: upload screenshots, add notes and comments, share them, and get feedback. Can mark note as complete. Client can’t click to see all screens. There’s no approve button. No limitations.
  • Mockvault: Looks great, does everything you need. Can’t links screens or make them interactive. When adding notes or comments, you can’t select areas, only points. Only designer can add notes, client can only add comments (not on a specific area). Has an “approve design” button or feature. Free plan limited to 1 project.
  • InVision: Looks great, does everything you need. When adding notes or comments, you can’t select areas, only points. Can mark note as complete. There’s no approve button. Free plan limited to 1 active project.
  • Notable: More of a collaborative note-taking, commenting and annotating tool than a mock up presentation tool. Looks good. Client  can’t hide comments, and there’s no approve button. Free plan has limited number or posts. Good for feedback and iteration.
  • Bounce: Similar to Notable but even simpler.Very simple & useful, yet limited in terms of features. Good for annotating pics and website screenshots. Can’t hide comments. No login needed. No limitations.  Can be integrated with Notable. Can’t reply to comments, can only add new ones.
  • Mocku.ps: Similar to bounce, but even simpler. No interaction with client. Just upload a pic, annotate it, and share the url.
  • Conceptboard: Looks great, mainly for feedback and iteration and collaborative prototyping. Has scribble feature where you can draw or handwrite. When adding notes or comments, you can’t select areas (except with handwrite tool), only points. Client  can’t hide comments. Can mark note as complete. There’s no approve button. No option to link screens, no interactive mockups. Like a collaborative white board.

Verdict:
The best free mockup presentation tool or online feedback tool has to be a tie between InVision, Mockvault, and Concept.ly… but if we absolutely have to choose, we’d pick Concept.ly because its free plan has no limitations at the moment. Invision and Mockvault would be runners up, with Mockvault being more targeted towards designers’ mockup presentations for clients rather than feedback and iteration like InVision.
